'''Ultimately, if this idea pans out, it would create excellent options for subclasses. For instance, lets say we create 4 elemental based subclasses (see the Pyromaster example in my Guilds page). Each subclass would get boosts/resists/absorbs to their chosen element, HOWEVER we could also make it so it would WEAKEN the inverse element. So a Pyro-Sorc would be weak to COLD, but their COLD spells would also be weakened. (Fire/Cold match, and Water/Elec match). I realize that this kind of breaks away from the idea of allowing people to simply change classes at high levels that BZ had tossed around a little bit. This is my off-the-wall new idea for the Sorcerer Class. It would take some major reconfiguring of spells, however I think it would tie in very nicely to some subclass ideas, and specializations
The basis for the "new sorc" would be elements. Instead of how Sorc currently has about 40 (estimate) damage spells of all varities of damage types (fire, cold, elec, shadow, poison, etc.), my proposal would be to wittle that number down to 4. The four elements I propose would be Fire, Cold, Elec and Water. Each element would get somewhere between 8-12 damage spells, so that the total number of damage spells would remain similar. I think the rest of the Sorc spells that get taken away could go to sprucing up other classes, subclasses, or helping to revamp Wizard (which is sorely needed).
Ultimately, if this idea pans out, it would create excellent options for subclasses. In fact, this is the complete opposite, in that it would/could potentially allow for people to create 4 (count 'em FOUR!!!) sorcs!!!
Also, since some of the "plane" ideas have fizzled slightly as of late, we could also utilize this idea to incorporate some new planes. Fire Plane - might be a good place for the pyro-master's guildmaster. Maybe utilize Nightwinds Volcano zone? Fire plane could have all sorts of Fire based mobs, which would be neat in that the pyro-sorc couldn't effectively level there - but it would be a GREAT place for a cold-sorc to level/play
I'll list out the spells I have in mind (very general/broad ideas, nothing like what's on the guild page -yet!) later on...
